This article explores the problems of translating traditional Uzbek units of time measurement into English, with a specific focus on their representation in the novel O‘tkan kunlar by Abdulla Qodiriy. The paper analyzes how temporal expressions such as "dalv", "shom", "asr", and other seasonal or religious time indicators were rendered in English by different translators. By comparing three distinct English translations of the same passage, the study evaluates the strategies used to convey not only semantic but also cultural and historical depth. The article argues that accurate translation of these expressions requires a elicate balance between literal meaning, historical context, and poetic expression. This research contributes to the field of translation studies by highlighting the pragmatic and stylistic complexities involved in rendering culturally loaded time-related terms from Uzbek into English.
