Abstract

The Southern Renaissance, a literary movement in the American South during the early 20th century, produced historical novels rich in regional vernacular, cultural specificity, and historical nuance. Translating these works poses significant challenges due to their intricate poetics, including dialectal variations, historical context, and cultural embeddedness. This article explores the linguistic and cultural problems encountered in translating Southern Renaissance historical novels, focusing on issues of dialect representation, historical authenticity, and the preservation of poetic tone.
