Abstract

As the use of English proliferates globally, its function is shifting from a language belonging to specific nations to a dynamic tool for international dialogue. This article contends that for English Language Teaching (ELT) to remain relevant, it must prioritize cultural awareness as a core pedagogical objective, not a supplementary unit. We examine the intrinsic link between language and cultural worldview, advocate for immersive classroom strategies, and address the practical hurdles teachers face. Our central argument is this: by weaving intercultural competence into the fabric of learning, we empower students to become more than just fluent speakers; we shape them into thoughtful, empathetic communicators who can navigate the complexities of our interconnected world.
